Ben Chonzie - Hill of the Mountain Hares?

One of the reasons I decided to start blogging was to share some of my pictures, particularly of our beautiful country. I want to do this, not because I think my pictures are really any better than anyone else's, but because I love the Scottish countryside and I know not everyone can see all the bits I somehow manage to reach.

And well worth double-clicking on them (or single-clicking if one is set up that way) to enlarge. That looks like the twin peaks of the Lomond Hills in the distance in the first one, which means that my wee home is about halfway across the field of view (not that I'd want to be too precise in case there are any US Drone pilots looking in for targets to select)

It's lovely! This looks very much like the Arctic tundra (Baffin Island) in summer. We had permanent patches of snow on the mountains. The flat soil was very spongy. We had to wear rubber boots all the time. Each step felt like sinking. Did you ever walk on that land?

Absolutely correct Andrew, those are the Lomond Hills in the distance (the vis was excellent) and I remember I could see you sitting in your conservatory with my high powered sight!
Yes Claudia this is quite a bleak mountain. The snow is normally gone from these hills by May or June, but the wet "bogs" which sound much like the land you describe, remain all year round.

Three words: beautiful.

I hadn't thought about it before Ruth, but I have just checked and I can indeed see Ben Chonzie from my conservatory. If I had know you were up there I might have waved, or offered some other appropriate gesture towards you.

Such lovely views I look forward to seeing more of them :-)

I was directed here from Andrew's blog.
