The foghorn at Ardnamurchan Point -

Without doubt one of the finest of lighthouses to visit. It's a bit scary walking round the top though. There is a rather low fence, at least for a tall chap like me, and a bizarre notion enters the head about the posibility of just going a bit mad and jumping over. Vertigo. I never used to get it but it gets me every time now. I wasn't keen to go out but the lighthouse-keeper told me "The Queen went out there when she visited" a few years ago, so I could not do anything but follow in her footsteps. She's just a little-un though, so the fence would make her feel more secure than it did me... My scaredy pants wife and kids stayed inside though. The waves way down below, crashing into and sucking at the rocks, again and again... very hypnotic... Sorry, mind wandering... Nice photo.

I have always wanted to climb a lighthouse. I loved the focus on lighthouses on Coast. Some great stories.

After Andrew's words, what could I add except of I do see a similarity with roundtowers like the one of Glendalough.

A very nice perspective.

I haven't climbed this lighthouse for many years. On the day I took this photo it was closed. It's a shame because it was a beautiful day with fabulous visibility which would have given the opportunity for good views and more photos.

Great take on the theme. Both the lighthouse and foghorn qualify. Would be interesting to photograph.
