We were very surprised, when walking along a deserted beach near Gairloch, to find this young skua standing very close to us, seemingly unafraid of humans.
With my (lack of) bird identification skills I would have thought it was a pigeon wearing flippers and would have been proud of my new birds and tool use discovery, much more dramatic than all these clever crows poking things with sticks.
