More Callanish

As an addition to the previous post I thought I would post a few more photos of the Callanish standing stones that we visited on our tour through the Western Isles a few weeks ago....

Although it looks deserted, there were actually quite a lot of visitors milling around and I had to position myself carefully to hide them behind stones so that they couldn't be seen in the photos!

Fascinating...I did some reading on the Stones. Interesting that it could have been the first Astronomical Observatory ever built. People were certainly not so primitive that many years ago. It might also have been the first Cathedrals if we accept the religious aspect it could have had. Thanks for the photos, Ruth. A great place to visit in person, and virtually.

One of the few spots I'd like to see before moving to my last dwelling.

And imagining there to meet Jams O'Donnell Esq. – now, that would be tthe cherry on the whipped cream.

You got a nice day. We visited in-between downpours a couple of weeks earlier, but in any weather it is a fascinating place. I played the 'hide the people' game too, and got some seemingly deserted pics.
